Simpson handles business in straight sets

PELLA, Iowa – Outside hitters Emily Williams and Lucia Gómez de Luis both reached double-digit kills and the Simpson College women's volleyball team swept Illinois College in its return to action Tuesday night.

The Storm (16-6) hit an impressive .393 while tallying 41 kills against Illinois College's 32. Jada Schmidt (.471), Peyton Mitchell (.444), and Emily Williams (.421) all hit above .400, while Emmy Seiler had just one error in 10 attempts for a .300 efficiency.

Simpson cruised to a 25-21 win in set one thanks to a match-high 17 kills. The Storm won set two 25-17 and completed the sweep with a 25-16 set three victory.

  • Simpson's .393 hitting percentage is the highest since Oct. 13, 2018 when the Storm hit .424 against Monmouth.
