Stellar start in Pella for the Storm's track and field program

PELLA, Iowa - At the first outdoor meet of the season, Simpson women's track and field set 12 new top-10 marks across eight events to begin the 2025 campaign.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS

• Cooper, Hays, and Thornburg all finished with top-10 times in school history in the 100m with Cooper earning fifth all-time, Hays sixth, and Thornburg tied for eighth.
• Hays also improved her standing in school history in the 200m, moving up to third all-time in the event.
• Competing at the WashU Carnival on Thursday, Booth finished 25th overall in the 10,000m race.
• Cooper and Johnson added their names to the top-10 list in the long jump with Cooper finishing eighth and Johnson ninth in school history.
• Johnson moved up to fifth in school history in the javelin while winning the event with her first throw of the day.
• Berg and Simon placed ninth and tenth in program history in the hammer with their marks.
• Merrill's mark in the shot put placed her tenth in school history, while her finish in the discus was eighth best in school history.
• The 4x100 relay team time of 49.22 seconds was the sixth fastest time in school history.
