Storm come up short in battle against Central

PELLA, Iowa - Taking on Central to open the 2025 season, the Simpson women's tennis team fell 7-0 despite strong play from Coilee Hynek on Saturday.

Hynek, playing in the two spot, dropped her opening set 6-4 against Central's Madi Whalen in individual play. Hynek battled back strongly in the second set, taking the frame 6-2 before ultimately falling in the third set. Savana Walls, Grace Peck, Ava Ridenhour, and Natalie Collins all managed to take a game in their matches.

In doubles play, the combo of Hynek and Walls put up the toughest battle against Central, eventually dropping the match 6-3.

"Coilee (Hynek) played some of the best singles strategy I have ever seen her play," said head coach Nicole Berger. "She fought hard, and as a team, our doubles looked really strong."
