CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Goals from Elle Street, Ally Hoffa and Georgia Paulson lifted the Simpson women's soccer team to a 3-1 win over Coe in its American Rivers Conference opener.
Street gave the Storm (5-3-2, 1-0-0 A-R-C) an early lead, finishing a pass from Ally Hoffa and Abby Bell less than four minutes into the match.
Coe (2-5-2, 0-1-0 A-R-C) tied the game in the 48th minute on a Mac Adams header from a corner kick. Hoffa restored Simpson's lead in the 64th minute off another Bell assist, and Paulson added an insurance goal in the 68th minute.
Simpson outshot Coe 29-9, including 22-3 in the second period. Paulson, Hoffa, and Savannah Schneider all had three shots on target.
NOTES
- The Storm have won four straight A-R-C openers, improving to 17-10-3 all-time in league openers.
- Simpson has won six consecutive games against the Kohawks and is now 21-10-1 in the head-to-head series.
