INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Simpson College women's soccer team shook off an early deficit and roared back with five unanswered goals to defeat Monmouth, 5-1, on Wednesday night at Buxton Stadium.
The Scots (4-3-1) found the net in the fourth minute, but the Storm (4-3-2) responded quickly. Elle Street buried the equalizer in the seventh minute off a pass from Abby Bell, then turned provider in the 19th, setting up Bell to put Simpson ahead 2-1 at the break.
The Storm attack came alive after halftime, striking three times in a six-minute stretch to put the match out of reach. Ally Hoffa opened the run in the 63rd minute on a goal assisted by Pepper Earle and Camden Palmer. Hoffa then set up Georgia Paulson for Simpson's fourth goal two minutes later, before Paulson and Hoffa combined again to feed Taylor Smith for the team's fifth tally in the 68th minute.
Simpson controlled possession and chances throughout, outshooting Monmouth 31-3 and generating 13 shots on goal.
