Jeremy Reinert hired as women’s soccer coach

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- Simpson College Director of Athletics Brian Niemuth announced today the hiring of Simpson alum Jeremy Reinert as the next head coach of the Storm women's soccer team. A 2013 graduate and former all-conference soccer player, Reinert is currently the head girls soccer coach at Indianola High School and was an assistant for the Simpson men in the fall.

"I am thrilled to introduce Jeremy Reinert as our head women's soccer coach," Niemuth said. "He has a great passion for Simpson and a strong desire to succeed. He was a part of turnaround as a player at Simpson and now he's excited to take the women's team to the next level."

Reinert becomes the sixth head coach in program history. He takes over for Jill Serafino, who resigned after three years at the helm. The Storm went 4-14 in 2017.

"I would like to thank Brian Niemuth, the search committee, the entire administration and staff for this opportunity," Reinert said. "I am very honored and humbled to lead the Storm women's soccer program moving forward. Growing up in Indianola and having been a part of Simpson College, this is my dream job. I'm excited about changing the culture and developing something special here at Simpson."

Prior to taking over as head coach of the Indianola girls, Reinert spent four seasons as an assistant at Briar Cliff University in Sioux City. After starting as a graduate assistant in 2013, he was promoted to the top assistant for both the men's and women's programs. The men's team enjoyed its winningest season in seven years in 2016, going 9-9. He also served as an assistant for the Bishop Heelan High School girls, helping the Crusaders to a state championship in 2015.

Reinert graduated from Simpson in 2013 with a degree in sports administration. He was a four-year letterwinner for the Storm, earning Second Team All-Iowa Conference honors as a junior in 2011. The three-year team captain helped the Storm improve from five wins in 2010 to eight in 2011 and 13 in 2012. He won the Dick Starr award in 2013 and was president Simpson's Student Athlete Advisory Committee.

Reinert earned a master's degree in business management from Briar Cliff in 2015.
