ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Simpson women's soccer team came up with two game-tying goals in regulation and again played the role of aggressor in overtime before earning a 2-2 draw against Concordia Chicago on Saturday.
The teams played 65 scoreless minutes before a flurry of goals made things interesting in the final 25. Maddie Thomas answered Concordia's first goal with the equalizer in the 75th minute and Daria Mather made it 2-2 after fitting a shot just under the crossbar i nthe 77th minute.
Just like Thursday's season-opener, the Storm (0-0-2) took charge in the overtime period, outshooting Concordia 4-0 after being outshot 12-5 in regulation.
Sarah LaCost scored both goals for the Cougars (0-1-1). The first came in the 66th minute and the second in the 76th minute.
Riley Adams faced seven shots, making five saves.
Up next: Simpson plays Judson in Rockford to close the weekend Sunday. Kickoff is set for Noon.
