Women's soccer picked eighth in IIAC Preseason Poll
INDIANOLA, Iowa - The Simpson women's soccer team was picked eighth in the recently released Iowa Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, as voted on by the league's nine head coaches.
Simpson received 15 points in the poll after going 5-13 overall and 1-6 in the IIAC a year ago. Second-year head coach Jill Serafino returns seven starters from last year's squad, including the top three goal scorers. Two-time first team All-Iowa Conference midfielder Mackenzie Stump headlines the returners, which came within a goal of tying two of the top teams in the league last season in Coe and Dubuque.
Defending conference champion Wartburg is the coaches pick to repeat after earning 62 points and six, first-place votes. Luther (51 points), Coe (46 points) and Dubuque (43 points) came in second, third, and fourth, respectively, after each picked up one first-place vote.
The Storm kick off the season at home against Grinnell on Sept. 1.
