Simpson defeats Raiders, Blue Jays to close 2022

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Simpson College men's wrestling team ended the first half of its season with a pair of lopsided victories at the Prairie Wolf Duals hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan.

The Storm (4-2) defeated Milwaukee School of Engineering 43-9 and Westminster 53-6. Simpson also competed against Cornell in an exhibition dual, dropping a close 27-24 decision.

Seven wrestlers had perfect days including Dylan McChesney, Kanin Hable, Joe Weaver, Zach Stewart, Robert Silva, Shyler Langley, and Colton Kinnison.

Two forfeits, a Weaver pin and a decision from Stewart helped Simpson claim a 21-0 lead through the first four matches against Milwaukee School of Engineering. Silva and Langley recorded back-to-back technical falls at 165 and 174 pounds to stretch the lead to 31-3, and Shane Mathias and Kinnison added pins to set the final score at 43-9.

Against Westminster, Simpson won the first eight matches for a 47-0 lead. Stewart, Riley Kovaleski and Andrew Wolff all registered first-period pins, Silva added one in 4:36, and Weaver posted an 18-2 technical fall to fuel the scoring. Kinnison capped the win with his second pin of the day.
