McChesney wins title at Under Armour Invitational

PELLA, Iowa – Dylan McChesney won the 125-pound title and three others placed to lead the Simpson College wrestling team at the Central Under Armour Invitational on Saturday.

McChesney started the day pinning Cruz Aguilar of North Iowa Area in 3:52 before collecting back-to-back decisions to set up a finals match with Morningside's Benjamin Schmitz. The Northglenn, Colo. native then secured the tournament title with his ninth pin of the season in 3:42, pushing his win streak to seven and record to 13-2 in the process.

Robert Silva wrestled to a second place finish in the 157-pound bracket, making his way to the finals with two major decisions and a 4-0 win over Logan Thorsten of St. Johns (Minn.). He then suffered his first loss in 10 matches as Drake Hayward of NCAA DII Minnesota State Mankato came out on top 10-1 to win the weight class.

Shyler Langley (174) placed fourth in his bracket and Shane Mathias (184) added a fifth-place finish for Simpson. Langley won his first two matches but suffered back-to-back defeats to land in fourth, while Shane Mathias secured three-straight decisions including one in overtime after getting pinned in his opening match.

Jason Padilla's two wins at 133 came by fall, Joe Weaver (133) posted a technical fall and two decisions, Chris Martinez (149) had a pin and a decision, and Colton Kinnison won his first match at 285 by decision.
