Simpson lands five individuals, one relay on all-region teams

NEW ORLEANS - Five members of the Storm track and field program, along with the 4x100 relay team were named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region team.

On the women's side of action, Teghan Booth and Maddie Hays earned recognition for their performances in the 10,000m and 400m hurdles, respectively.

Booth ranked third overall in the midwest region in the 10,000m race, which she set a season-best time of 35:.52.78 at the WashU Distance Carnival back in March. Hays finished fourth in the region in the 400m hurdles, clocking a season best 1:02.61 time at the American Rivers Conference Championship earlier this month. Booth won the 10,000m race at the A-R-C Championships and Hays finished as runner-up in the 400m hurdles, both earning all-conference honors.

Kendrick Achebe received his honor in the 100m dash, setting a personal best time of 10.51 seconds at the A-R-C Championships to earn all-conference. All-conference selection Brenden Godbout earned his selection with his performance in the 400m hurdles at the Midwest Twilight Final Qualifier last week, setting a new personal best in the event at 52.74 seconds. Ulysses Patterson finished second overall in the region in the decathlon, with his 6,729 points at the A-R-C Championships earning him the conference's Field Athlete of the Year award and all-conference.

The 4x100 relay team consisting of Daniel Pere, Godbout, Achebe, and Joseph Sams set the school record in the event with a time of 40.94 seconds, good for fourth best in the region.

Patterson will represent Simpson at the NCAA Outdoor National Championships in Geneva, Ohio in the decathlon. Patterson will begin action on Thursday, May 22 at 10:30 a.m. CST with live results available on simpsonathletics.com and ncaa.com.
