Second half surge lifts Storm to critical 2-0 win over Buena Vista

STORM LAKE, Iowa - After a scoreless first half, Simpson erupted out of halftime with two quick goals from Mitchell Dickson and Zach Kline to claim a 2-0 win over Buena Vista.

Simpson wasted no time putting pressure on the defense of Buena Vista, putting 10 shots up in the first half, with six coming on frame. However, the Storm was unable to capitalize on the attempts and entered halftime still looking for their first goal.

The payoff did not take long for the Storm in the second half as Dickson scored just over one minute into the half. The goal marked the ninth of the season for Dickson, putting him into a tie for most goals scored in the conference with Loras' Dani Galiana Torres.

Simpson continued to put pressure on the Beavers' defense, adding another goal in the 53rd minute, this time from Kline to the lower right in the net. Kline's goal was the fourth of the season, and his first in nearly a month when he scored twice against Cornell.

With a two goal lead in hand, Nate Hersom and the Storm defense shut down Buena Vista's attack, allowing zero shots on goal in the second half. Hersom ended the night with a clean sheet, making six saves on 14 shots.

The win gives the Storm a critical three points, bringing them into a tie for fifth in conference with seven points.
