Storm drop A-R-C opener to Coe on the road

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Despite an early go-ahead goal from Iain Macrae, Coe responded with two goals to slip past Simpson 2-1 in the A-R-C opener on Saturday.

The Storm (3-4-5, 0-1-0) were the first to strike, scoring in the 38th minute from Macrae unassisted with his third goal of the season. Before Simpson could get to halftime with a lead, Coe (3-3-4, 1-0-0) managed to equalize in the 43rd minute.

Both sides held strong for the opening ten minutes of the second half when Coe took their first lead of the match in the 58th minute. Simpson put the pressure on Coe looking for an opportunity to tie, firing off 14 second half shots but unable to capitalize.

Simpson outshot Coe 23-to-11 and in corners at 5-to-3. Mitchell Dickson and Grant Strickler combined to take 12 of the Storm's 23 shots, with three landing on target. Nate Hersom played a full 90 in net for the Storm, making four saves on the day.
