Perrin claims individual title after stellar performance at Wartburg Fall Invite
WAVERLY, Iowa - After a stellar opening four-under par round, Blake Perrin followed up with another brilliant four-under par to win the individual title at the Wartburg fall invitational on Sunday.
Perrin's 68 tied for the lowest single round score in program history, joining Josh Luehmann in 2000 and Trent Lindenman in 2014. Perrin was nearly flawless over the 36-holes, recording nine birdies, including an eagle on five in the opening round to only three bogeys. His eight-under par was three strokes ahead of the second place finisher from Buena Vista.
Tennis went for two-under par in the opening round, highlighted by a five-under par front nine, before wrapping up third overall in the field with an even-par second round. Tennis and Perrin were two of three players in the field to finish at least one-under par.
Jacob Peterson, Bradley Kofoed and Jack Wahman rounded out the scorecard for the Storm with Peterson logging a three-over par final round.
As a squad, Simpson placed second overall at 589, nine strokes behind the champion Wartburg, and tied with Buena Vista. The score of 589 set a program record for the lowest two-round score, while Simpson's 294 score in round two is tied for fifth lowest in Storm history, dating back to 2009. The Storm edged out Coe and Loras by four and five strokes respectively.
