Tennis' even-par round leads Storm to fourth place finish
ASBURY, Iowa - Led by an even-par second round from Jackson Tennis, and another top-10 performance by Blake Perrin, the Simpson men's golf team took fourth overall at the Duhawk Invitational on Monday.
After a solid 78 in the opening round, Jackson Tennis went for even par-72 golf in the second round to jump up to the top of the team leaderboard for Simpson. His 150 total placed Tennis in seventh on the overall player leaderboard.
Blake Perrin followed suit after posting a team-leading 75 in the opening round, finishing with a 77 to earn another top-10 finish. Bradley Kofoed dropped four strokes off his game in the second round to finish third on the team, while Jacob Peterson and Jack Wahman rounded out the scorecard for the Storm.
As a team, Simpson placed fourth out of 11 teams, including wins over Dubuque, Wartburg, and both Loras teams. The Storm finished with a tournament-high 27 birdies, outpacing the second team, Buena Vista, at 23 birdies. Simpson also excelled on the par-4s, playing second best in the field with an average score of 4.27 on the holes.
