Riordan adds Academic All-America to accolades

AUSTIN, Texas -- Junior Conor Riordan has been named a Google Cloud Academic All-American for his work on and off the hardwood this season for the Simpson men's basketball team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Riordan is 1 of 15 student-athletes in Division III men's basketball to receive this honor.

The Ankeny, Iowa native had the highest grade-point average out of the second team performers and fourth overall. Riordan showcases a 3.96 GPA while majoring in mathematics. Riordan is the first Simpson player to be named to the list since Andrew Dau in 2013 and Riordan holds the highest placement dating back 2003, when Jesse Harris achieved first team status.

Riordan was third in the American Rivers Conference this season in scoring at 18.2 points per game, which landed him on the A-R-C All-Conference First Team. The guard is 11 points away from reaching 1,000 in his career

Jenna Taylor has also received this honor after her stellar performance on and off the court for the Storm women's basketball team. The pair are the first to obtain this accomplishment in the same season for Simpson.
