#StormTop10 of 2014-15: No. 10

Kicking off our countdown at No. 10 is the baseball team's dramatic walk-off wins over Dubuque.

Although the season didn't go quite as planned, it couldn't have ended on a better note for head coach Ben Blake and the Storm.

With a trip to the Iowa Conference Tournament out of the picture, Simpson showed a flair for the dramatic in a thrilling, four-game sweep of Dubuque that featured three walk-off wins. Simpson picked up two wins in extra innings and earned the sweep despite trailing in each game of the series.

In the opener, Simpson trailed 6-2 going into the bottom of the seventh before scoring five runs in the last at-bat. Second baseman Taylor Harmon drove in the winning run, hitting a sharp grounder past a drawn-in infield with the bases loaded.

Friday night's second game was a marathon that featured a gutsy pitching performance by Simpson's Brock Borgeson. The junior threw all 11 innings - 187 pitches - and struck out 12 as the Storm held on for a 5-4 win. This time around shortstop Jake Scieszinski had the game-winning RBI, hitting a dribbler to first that resulted in an infield single.

Harmon came up big again in Saturday's first game. With the bases loaded in the ninth and the game tied 6-6, the junior dropped a 2-out single into shallow right field to score the game-winner. Simpson trailed 6-0 in the game before three RBIs by Scieszinki and a 4-for-4 effort by Bud Smith got the Storm back in it.

The series finale was a ho-hum, 5-3 win in comparison to the first three games of the series. Matt Pennings earned the complete-game win on the mound after getting a five-out win in game one.
