Hunemiller, Buchheit, Murano lead Storm to third at Grinnell

GRINNELL, Iowa -- The trio of Shelby Hunemiller, Emily Buchheit and Kaitlyn Murano finished within seven seconds of each other in leading the Simpson women's cross country team to a third-place finish of 16 teams at Grinnell's Les Duke Invitational on Saturday.

The Storm finished with 120 points, behind meet champion Grinnell (44) and Central (104).

Hunemiller led the pack in the first 6k race of the season, completing the course in 25:10 to place 18th. Buchheit came in 19th just five seconds later and Murano - a freshman - clocked a 25:17 to place 20th.

Freshmen Mackenzie Laughlin (29th, 25:47) and Kyli Orr (34th, 25:56) factored into the team scoring while Audrey Klein (37th, 26:06) and Ashlee Litterer (41st, 26:22) rounded out the varsity finishers.
