Simpson volleyball recognized for academic excellence

LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the 14th year in a row, the Simpson College volleyball team earned the United States Marine Corps and the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award.

The Storm have collected a total of 16 team academic awards from the USMC/AVCA since the organizations started recognizing teams for maintaining a year-long grade point average of at least 3.3 in 1992-93. Head coach Kekailoa Palea's squad compiled a team GPA of 3.42 during the 2021-22 academic year.

Simpson is one of 1,213 collegiate and high school teams to earn the academic honor this year. There were 212 teams competing in NCAA Division III selected.
