INDIANOLA, Iowa -- After leading Simpson College volleyball to a 2-1 record at it's first tournament since Nov. 2, 2019, junior Jessica Jacobs and freshman Courtney Paxton were named to the Central/Grinnell All-Tournament Team.

After dropping their first match to Minnesota-Morris, 3-1, the Storm (2-2) rebounded with a 3-1 victory over Wisconsin-Superior and capped off the weekend with a sweep against Dominican.

Jacobs ended the weekend with 34 kills, including a team-high 18 against the Yellowjackets in match two. The Janesville, Iowa native totaled 13 digs and eight service aces to help the cause.

"We are very lucky to have Jessica be part of the Simpson family," head coach Kekailoa Palea said. "Her leadership and work ethic played a big part in our success this weekend."

In her first collegiate tournament with Simpson, Paxton clubbed 29 kills, with 15 coming against Wisconsin-Superior. Paxton is currently averaging 2.44 kills per set for second on the team.

"Courtney impresses our staff every time she steps onto the court," Palea said. "Her ability to stay consistent in her gameplay as a freshman is a huge asset to the team."

The Storm return to the court on Wednesday, Sept. 15 for a home match against Nebraska Wesleyan to begin American Rivers Conference action. The contest is slated to begin at 7:30 p.m. inside Cowles Fieldhouse.
