Lester, Mathews named to all-tournament team

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- Simpson volleyball seniors Hannah Lester and Alyssa Mathews were named to the Pacific University Invitational All-Tournament Team for their efforts on the court this past weekend.

Lester led the Storm (4-3) at the net all tournament with 52 kills for a .343 hitting percentage and sprinkled 19 blocks over the four matches in Kailua, Hawaii. Lester is currently second in the American Rivers Conference by hitting .337 and is scoring 4.13 points per set.

Mathews displayed her setting skills by dishing out 128 assists while Simpson went 3-1 during the trip. Along with the assists, the setter added 32 digs. Mathews now has 224 assists this year and 2,577 for her career.

The Storm return to action with a weekday match at Grinnell on Thursday. The contest will begin at 7 p.m.
