Volleyball splits on final day of IIAC/NACC Crossover

LISLE, Ill. — The Simpson volleyball team closed the IIAC/NACC Crossover with a split, beating host Benedictine before falling to Aurora to finish the weekend 2-2.

The Storm (7-8) beat Benedictine in four sets (25-23, 25-15, 24-26, 25-23) before falling to Aurora in three (25-18, 25-21, 25-6).

SIMPSON 3, BENEDICTINE 1
Jacqueline Luth and Hannah Lester combined for 35 kills for the Storm. Lester had four kills down the stretch in the deciding fourth set, helping Simpson outscore the Eagles 5-3 after the set was tied 20-all. Luth had 19 kills, Lester finished with 16 and Shelby Miller led the team with 28 assists. Kayla Aronow had 16 digs and Miller had 12 for the double-double.

AURORA 3, SIMPSON 0
The Storm struggled in the final match of the weekend, getting just 17 kills against 19 errors in the three-set loss. Luth had five kills to lead Simpson. Katie Vondra had 10 kills to lead the Spartans, who improved to 12-6 with the win.
