Storm split final day at Aurora, Blaser named to all-tournament team

AURORA, Ill. - Tabitha Blaser had a big day as the Simpson volleyball team split play on the final day of the Aurora Invitational, losing to host Aurora 3-1 (25-21, 18-25, 25-21, 25-20) before beating Wheaton (Mass.) 3-0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-22).

Blaser finished the day with 25 kills, earning a spot on the all-tournament team for the Storm (5-6).

Blaser's best match of the season came in the loss to Aurora. The senior burried a season-high 15 kills and hit .333 in the four-set contest. Jacqueline Luth added 11 kills and hit .417 and Maura Chadwick contributed 20 assists. Olivia Sulentic led the defense with 19 digs while Niki Dean had six block assists.

Blaser led the way with 10 kills in the final match of the weekend, a three-set win over Wheaton. Sara Hoppenworth had 12 assists and three service aces, and Sulentic scooped 26 digs. Simpson earned the win despite hitting just .047.
