Volleyball comes back to beat Iowa Wesleyan

MOUNT PLEASANT, Iowa - Tabitha Blaser had a game-high 15 kills, Katie Kieffer handed out 43 assists and the Simpson volleyball team recovered from a loss in the firs0 sett to beat Iowa Welseyan 3-1 (24-26, 25-18, 25-21, 25-15) on Wednesday.

Blaser led three players in double figure kills and Kieffer tallied 40-plus assists for the third time in five games for the Storm (3-2). 

Torey Buenger had 11 kills and MacKenzie McGraw finished with 10. Buenger hit .286, committing just three errors in 28 total attacks.

Olivia Sulentic had nine kills, 25 digs and a team-high three service aces. Kayla Aronow's 31 digs paced the back row.

Danielle Nelson led the Tigers (0-5) with nine kills.

After tallying 13 kills and hitting .140 in the first set, Iowa Wesleyan failed to reach 10 kills in the final three.

Game Notes: Through five games, junior Katie Kieffer is averaging a career-best 10.67 assists per set ... her previous high was 8.58 in 2013 ... junior Tabitha Blaser's team-high 54 kills gives her 692 for her career ... Simpson has this weekend off, returning to action Monday, Sept. 8 at William Penn.
