Simpson rolls on first day of IIAC-NACC Crossover

WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. – The Simpson volleyball team rolled through the first day of the IIAC-NACC Crossover, blanking Wisconsin Lutheran and Marian (Wis.).

Led by the trio of Tabitha Blaser, Haley Danforth and Kat Wetjen, the Storm (10-2) beat Wisconsin Lutheran 25-19, 25-21, 25-17 and Marian 25-14, 25-18, 25-18.

Blaser led the team with 19 kills on the day while Danforth and Wetjen added 18 apiece. Danforth hit .429 and MacKenzie McGraw hit .455 with 12 kills.

Simpson held Wisconsin Lutheran to a .060 hitting percentage in the first game of the day. Blaser led the way with 10 kills, Wetjen had nine and Danforth added eight. Katie Kieffer finished with 30 assists and Kim Rogers scooped 14 digs.

The defense did an even better job against Marian, holding the Sabers to a .024 hitting percentage. Danoforth paced the team in the second match of the day, tallying 10 kills. Wetjen and Blaser finished with nine apiece, Kieffer had 35 assists and Rogers came away with 14 digs.

Simpson finishes play at the IIAC-NACC Crossover on Saturday when it takes on Aurora and Concordia (Wis.).
