NEW YORK – MacKenzie McGraw and Tabitha Blaser combined for 21 kills as the Simpson volleyball team completed a clean sweep of the New York Labor Day Invitational with a 3-0 win against Ramapo on Saturday.
The Storm (3-0) handled the Roadrunners (0-3) 25-17, 25-12, 25-13. Simpson also swept Hunter and Brockport State on the weekend, outscoring opponents 226-132.
McGraw led Simpson with 11 kills against Ramapo, followed by Blaser with 10. Katie Kieffer had 23 assists and three aces and Kim Rogers had a team-high 12 digs to go along with four aces.
As a team, Simpson hit a sizzling .251 over the weekend while holding opponents to a measly .032. The Storm also had 34 aces while allowing only six.
Blaser and Kieffer landed spots on the all-invitational team. Blaser led the team with 34 kills while hitting .304 and Kieffer handed out 87 assists.
Simpson opens the home schedule Wednesday, Sept. 4 when Iowa Wesleyan comes to Cowles Fieldhouse.
