Storm roll Buena Vista in conference opener

STORM LAKE, Iowa – MacKenzie McGraw had a game-high 10 kills, Katie Kieffer had 28 assists and the Simpson volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 win over Buena Vista in the Iowa Conference opener for both teams Wednesday night.

The Storm (2-7, 1-0 Iowa Conference) hit a season-high .221, taking the match 25-15, 25-20, 25-15.

Buena Vista didn't have an answer for the freshman McGraw, who hit .471 with a pair of solo blocks. Classmate Tabitha Blaser added eight kills and Kim Rogers came away with 13 digs.

Kirsten Van Zuiden had seven kills for the Beavers (1-9, 0-1), who managed to hit only .058 against the Simpson defense.

Simpson will compete inside the friendly confines of Cowles Fieldhouse for the first time in 2012 this weekend when it hosts the Simpson Invitational. The Storm welcome Coe, Grinnell, Nebraska Wesleyan and St. Benedict to campus for the two-day tournament, which begins Friday afternoon.
