Dunlavy's record night fuels Storm sweep
DECORAH, Iowa - Megan Dunlavy had a once-in-a-lifetime performance Wednesday, hitting .824 in Simpson's 3-0 (25-17, 25-10, 25-15) sweep of Luther at Regents Center.
A senior, Dunlavy buried 14 kills and committed no errors in 17 attempts, the most efficient performance ever by a Simpson player with 15-19 attempts in a match. Her hitting percentage is the second-best in school history and the highest by a player against a conference opponent.
Steph Keller continued her solid play with nine kills for the Storm (11-16, 2-5 Iowa Conference), who won their second league match in a row and remained in contention for a spot in the conference tournament.
With four teams ensured a bid, Simpson, Cornell, Luther and Dubuque all have a shot at the final two spots.
Hannah Walker had a team-high 14 kills for the Norse (17-12, 2-4), who committed 19 errors against the Storm defense.
Ashley Padget had 28 assists and Haley Danforth led the team with 10 digs.
Simpson hit .419 as a team - a season high - and committed only three errors in 74 attempts.
The Storm take part in the Elmhurst Invitational this weekend.
