Storm finish Luther Invite 3-1

DECORAH, Iowa - The Simpson volleyball team beat Knox 3-0 (25-10, 25-23, 25-14) and lost to Luther (25-15, 23-25, 25-20, 15-25, 15-13) on Saturday, closing play at the Luther Invitational 3-1.

Megan Dunlavy and Audrey Schuttler earned spots on the all-tournament team to lead the Storm (5-10). Dunlavy led the team with 62 kills on the weekend, hitting a scorching .452 with three service aces and six blocks. Schuttler scooped 57 digs and recorded four service aces.

Dunlavy turned in one of the top performances in Simpson history against Knox, as her .625 hitting percentage is the fourth-highest single-game effort by a player with more than 20 attempts. McKaylie Croghan added eight kills and the Storm held the Prairie Fire to .150 hitting on the match.

Dunlavy had another effecient effort at the net against Luther, burying 17 kills agaisnt only two errors for a .429 hitting percentage. But Simpson handed the Norse 19 points by way of service errors in the five-set match.

Steph Keller had 14 kills and Kelsey Albers chipped in with 10, but the miscues were too much for Simpson to overcome.

Hannah Walker had a game-high 21 kills for the Norse, who saw commited only seven service errors in the match.

Ashley Padget led the team with 26 assists on the day.

The Storm return to conference play Wednesday, Sept. 28 when they host Dubuque in a 7:30 p.m. start from Cowles Fieldhouse.
