Simpson produces strong results at Dutch Athletics Classic

PELLA, Iowa -- In their first competition in over a month, the Storm women's track and field team finished third at the Dutch Athletics Classic on Saturday.

The Storm produced two first-place finishers at the event. Luci Swarthout crossed the finish in 1:08.18 to earn first in the 400-meters and Ashlee Litterer was first in the 3,000-meters with a time of 11:57.36.

Mackenzie James led the team in the 60-meter and 200-meter events. Audrey Klein (mile), Jamie Glanz (high jump) and Kia Noibi (long jump) all garnered third-place results in their respective events.

Madison Anderson paced Simpson in the throwing events. She tossed the shot put 24 feet, 11.75 inches and had a distance of 30 feet in the weight throw.

The Storm visit Lincoln, Neb. on Friday for the Nebraska Wesleyan Invitational. The meet begins at 11:30 a.m. at the Devaney Center.
