Lovan breaks school record, takes second in pole vault

PELLA, Iowa -- Audrey LoVan posted a runner-up finish in the pole vault and Katelyn Mangold brought home all-conference honors in the 400 hurdles to lead the Simpson women at the 2018 Iowa Conference Outdoor Championships on Saturday.

LoVan cleared 10-feet, 10-inches in the pole vault to break her own school record for the third time this outdoor season. She hit the mark on her final attempt, giving her a second-straight all-conference finish after taking third place indoors.

Mangold held her qualifying position in the finals, taking third place after shaving nearly one second from Friday. She ran 1:03.97, improving her position as the third-fastest mark in school history.
