First-years pace Storm women at Central

PELLA, Iowa -- Emily Buchheit and Katelyn Mangold turned in top-three finishes in individual events to lead the Simpson women's track and field team at the Central Weather Saver Invitational held Thursday, April 5.

Meet Highlights
• Freshmen Emily Buchheit and Katelyn Mangold gave the Storm their highest individual finishes of the meet as Buchheit took third in the 1500 and Mangold took third in the 400 hurdles. Mangold was competing in the 400 hurdles for the first time as each ran collegiate bests.

• Mackenzie James (200 meters) and Kate Derrick (800 meters) placed fourth in their respective events in collegiate-best times. Kamryn Juni added a fourth-place effort in the high jump.

• The 4x100-meter relay team of Audrey LoVan, Mangold, Katie Clarke and James ran a season-best time of 51.76, currently the No. 5 time in the IIAC.
