Storm women open outdoor season at Central

PELLA, Iowa — Audrey LoVan turned in a pair of third-place finishes, Briana McCloskey and the 4x400 relay added two more and the Simpson women's track and field team had eight, top-five efforts at the outdoor season-opening Central Invitational on Saturday.

The Storm placed seventh of eight teams with 60 points, within six points of fifth place.

LoVan -- the Storm's top placewinner in four events -- had a busy day. She took third in the pole vault and the 200 and led off the fourth-place 4x100 relay team. Her 28.35 in the 200 was a career-best.

McCloskey and Courtney Neuendorf fared well in the 5,000 meters. McCloskey took third in 19:05.87, an 18-second improvement over her top time in the event last season. Neuendorf took fourth in 19:39.53.

The 4x400 relay took home the Storm's other third-place finish as the foursome of Jaycie Owens, Bre Waugh, Katie Clark and Keeghan Corcoran crossed the line in 4:19.59.

Owens added a fourth-place effort in the 400 hurdles (1:12.08).
