Fleshner punches ticket to nationals
INDIANOLA, Iowa - Bayley Fleshner will represent Simpson at the 2014 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships this week at Ohio Wesleyan University's Selby Stadium in Delaware, Ohio.
A junior from Rockwell, Iowa, Fleshner qualified in the 100-meter hurdles for the first time in her career after near misses in 2013 and earlier this year. She missed out on qualifying by less than a tenth of a second in 2013 and was one of the top hurdles left off the list during the 2014 indoor season.
Fleshner inked her trip to nationals with a season-best effort of 14.43 seconds at the UW-La Crosse NCAA Qualifier on May 15. Her time is No. 18 in the nation, but she enters nationals with the No. 16 qualifying time following official declarations.
Fleshner is one of 22 competitors in the event, which begins with preliminaries Friday, May 23 at 6:30 p.m. Finals take place Friday at 2:25 p.m.
