Storm place eighth at Grinnell

GRINNELL, Iowa – The Simpson women's track and field team saw three events take home top three finishes as the Storm placed eighth at Grinnell's Darren Young Classic on Saturday.

Nebraska Wesleyan narrowly won the team title with 105 points, followed by Wartburg (102), Augustana (68), Bethel (55), Grinnell (42), Central (38.5), Cornell (37.5) and Simpson (26).

Bayley Fleshner led the Storm with a second-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 9.424 seconds.

Fleshner also helped the Storm to a third place finish in the 4x200-meter relay, teaming with April Sigmund, Lauren Martin and Jordan Maher to cross the line in 1:48.68.

Sigmund added another third-place effort in the 400-meter dash, finishing in 60.92 seconds.

Next up for Simpson is the Iowa Invitational in Iowa City, Iowa on Feb. 15.
