Storm take second at Central

PELLA, Iowa – The Simpson women's track and field placed in the top three in seven events and won three on the way to a second place finish of six teams at the Dutch Athletics Classic on Saturday.

Central won their home meet with 188 points, followed by Simpson (121), William Penn (84), Graceland (76), Southwestern CC (33) and Northwest Missouri State (24).

Bayley Fleshner won the 55-meter hurdles, Hannah Moulds won the long jump and Lindsay Taylor won the triple for the Storm.

Fleshner finished the 55 hurdles in 8.84 seconds, Moulds won the long jump in 15 feet, 9 ½ inches and Taylor won the triple jump in 31-5 ¾.

Fleshner also placed second in the long jump, hitting the sand in 15-7.

Lindsey Borgomainerio and April Sigmund added second-place finishes, with Borgomainerio coming in second in the Mile (5:54.68) and Sigmund taking second in the 400 (1:03.08). Sammy Nelson contributed the other top-3 finish, placing third in the 600 (1:44.76).

Sarah Ney added a pair of solid efforts in the sprints, placing fifth in the 55 (7.77) and 6th in the 200 (28.32).

Simpson travels to the Cornell Hilltop Invitational in Mount Vernon on Saturday, Feb. 2.
