Bak wins high jump at Iowa Invite

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Kinsey Bak turned in a gold medal performance in the high jump to lead the Simpson women's track & field team at the Iowa Invitational on Friday.

Bak cleared 5-4 1/4 on the high jump, leading a field that included competitors from Iowa, Northern Iowa, Western Illinois and Central.

The next best showing for the Storm came in the 3,000 meters, where Courtney Licht took second (11:50.25). She was joined by Maddy McAreavy and Amelia Borgomainerio, who took third (12:06.34) and fifth (12:34.63), respectively.

The 4x400-meter relay team of April Sigmund, Sammy Nelson, Nicole Mulder and Lindsey Borgomainerio ran a season-best time of 4:14.90, placing fourth.

Sigmund added a sixth-place showing in the 400 meters (60.80) and Bayley Fleshner also placed sixth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.24). Jayde Boyle rounded out Simpson's top-eight performance by taking eighth in the 600 meters (1:48.27).

Next up for the Storm is the Iowa Conference Championships, Feb. 24-25 in Mt. Vernon.
