Women’s tennis opens spring season with loss to Northwestern

DES MOINES, Iowa — The Simpson women's tennis team began its spring season with a 6-3 setback against Northwestern (Iowa) at Drake's Knapp Tennis Center on Friday afternoon.

The Storm (5-8-1) got singles wins from Megan Bradley and Liz Nimmo and a doubles win from Nimmo and Kelly Kuebler. The Red Raiders (4-2) won their second straight match.

Bradley improved to 6-3 on the season, beating McKayla Johnson 6-4, 6-4 at No. 4 singles. Nimmo also earned her sixth win of the year, topping Emma Van Drie 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 5 spot.

The duo of Nimmo and Kuebler improved to 5-5 on the season with a tight 9-8 (8-6) win over Johnson and Kelly Shortenhaus at 3 doubles.
