Darkness halts women’s tennis match in a draw

DES MOINES, Iowa — In the final dual match of the fall campaign, the Simpson women's tennis team played to a 4-4 with Grand View on Tuesday. Play was halted due to darkness and rain.

The Storm (5-7-1) responded from losing two of three in doubles to take three singles contests to salvage the draw. 

Three of Simpson's singles victories went to the third set, as Kayla Reusche beat Madison Trow 6-4, 4-6, 10-5 and Kelly Kuebler beat Alyssa Stanczak 7-5, 4-6, 10-5. Liz Nimmo beat Hannah Walljasper in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.

Nimmo added a second win in the doubles competition, teaming up with Megan Bradley to edge Walljasper and Stanczak 8-5.

Simpson goes to the IIAC Individual Tournament this weekend, which takes place at Byrnes Park in Waterloo on Friday and Saturday.
