Simpson women's tennis edged by Grand View

DES MOINES, Iowa - Things looked promising after doubles play for Simpson after taking two of three matches, although Grand View (2-1) would sweep spots two through five in singles play to come back and win 5-4 on Thursday, breaking the Vikings' three match losing streak against the Storm.

Kelli Ehrhardt and Kelli Greiner opened up with a 8-3 win in doubles action before the team of Michelle Hartmann and Sidney Griffith eeked out a 9-8 (7-5) victory to bookend doubles competition in Simpson wins.

Ehrhardt was the only player for the Storm (5-4) that would take home victories in both doubles and singles as she cruised to a 6-4, 6-2 win in the No. 1 slot.

Liz Nimmo was Simpson's only other victory in singles action, winning 6-1, 6-3 as the tailgunner role at No. 6.

Simpson is now 2-2 on the season against non-conference foes and 3-2 in its last five against Grand View.
