Women's tennis blanks Buena Vista for third IIAC win

STORM LAKE, Iowa - The Simpson women's tennis team cruised to a shutout win over Buena Vista on Saturday, snapping a three-match losing streak and picking up its third Iowa Conference win of the season. 

The Storm (5-3, 3-2) had to earn their way through the singles competition, getting three wins via super tiebreaker. At the No. 1 spot, Kelli Ehrhardt dropped the second set before edging Tarynne Kinghorn, 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 10-8. At No. 3, Kelli Greiner lost the first set before coming back to win 4-6, 6-1, 10-8. Cassidy Bierbrodt did the same thing at No. 4, starting slow before taking the final two sets from Rica Mizero 4-6, 6-3, 10-6. 

Michelle Hartmann earned a 6-2, 6-0 win over Emma Hartz at No. 2 and Liz Nimmo shut out Sabrina Manezero 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5. Katie Platts won by default at No. 6. 

The doubles competition was less intense, as Ehrhardt and Greiner won 8-2 at No. 1 and Hartmann and Bierbrodt won 8-0 at No. 2. Buena Vista defaulted at the third spot.
