Simpson drops 6-3 decision to Central

PELLA, Iowa – Despite a three-match sweep by Kelli Ehrhardt and Kelli Greiner, the Simpson women's tennis team fell to Central, 6-3 on Tuesday afternoon.

The Dutch (8-1, 4-1) avenged a sweep by the Storm (1-9, 1-4) in 2012-13.

Ehrhardt and Greiner started off the meet with a bang in the No. 2 doubles slot after collecting their seventh win of the season in an 8-3 triumph over Central's Anna Bowser and Ashlyn Huegel, who suffered just their second loss of the season as Central doubles No. 2. The dominant pair produced similar results in their respective No. 3 and No. 4 singles' battles as Ehrhardt validated her third consecutive singles win after conquering Bowser's defense in a 7-6 (7-0), 6-3 affair. Greiner topped Huegel in her first super-set match of the year 5-7, 6-2, 10-6.

Sophomore Michelle Hartmann came out swinging in the first set but couldn't quite sustain it as she fell to Central's Megan Davis 7-6 (8-6), 6-0. The tiebreak set was the first of the year for both competitors.

The Storm enjoy home court advantage as they engage Wartburg and Luther in a war between the rackets on Saturday, Sept. 28.
