Women's tennis falls to Graceland, 5-4

INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Simpson women's tennis team suffered a 5-4 setback in its home opener against Graceland on Thursday afternoon.

The Storm (0-4) got off to an early lead in the contest with a pair of doubles wins. The duo of Kelli Ehrhardt and Kelli Greiner took a close match from Isle Karina Cardiel and Sofia Jaramillo, 8-6 at No. 2 doubles, while Krista Rogers and Jordan Parra won by forfeit at the third spot.

The Yellowjackets (1-0) came back by taking four of six in singles competition. Simpson's wins came from Greiner – who led Cardiel at No. 4 in the second set before winning by injury default – and a forfeit at No. 6.

Rogers gave Simpson a chance at the No. 5 spot, using a big second set to force Paige Robino to a third-set tiebreaker before falling 7-6 (12-10), 1-6, 1-0.

The Storm travel to Dubuque this weekend to take on Loras and Dubuque on Saturday, Sept. 7.
