Storm sweep competition at Iowa Lakes

EMMETSBURG, Iowa — Three individuals won three events and the Simpson women's swimming and diving team defeated Iowa Lakes CC, Midland and St. Mary's (Neb.) in Emmetsburg on Saturday, Jan. 13.

The Storm (6-2) swept the meet claiming victory over Iowa Lakes CC (167-97), Midland (207-27) and St. Mary's (Neb.) (161-98).

Sarah Prendergast triumphed over the competition in the 500 freestyle, finishing in first place with a time of 5:50.16. Prendergast also finished in third in the 50 freestyle (27.71), fourth in 200 freestyle (2:10.90) and second place in the 200 freestyle relay (1:54.47) with the team of Cassie Bergman, Carter Stacey and Megan Buitendorp.

Brenna Yeutsy claimed victory in the 1650 freestyle and clocked in at 20:28.00, her first time swimming the event. Yeutsy competed in three other events, claiming second place in the 50 freestyle (27.47) and 100 freestyle (1:00.08) and placed third in the 200 medley relay (2:05.34) with the team of Megan Buitendorp, Mikala Williams-Yee, and Cheyenne Wiederholt.

Naomi Olsgaard is the third first-place victor for the Storm. Olsgaard won the 1-meter diving event with 142.80 points.
