Storm sit in seventh place after day one of Pioneer Classic
GRINNELL, Iowa -- The women's swimming and diving team finished in seventh place out of 11 after day one of the Pioneer Classic on Friday, Dec. 1.
After 12 events, the Storm accumulated 70.5 points from three events - the 200 freestyle relay, 50 freestyle and 400 medley relay. Gustavus Adolphus currently sits at the lead with 523 points.
The team of Anna Carl, Mikala Williams-Yee, Kayla Cary and Sarah Prendergast of the 400 medley relay finished on top for Simpson, finishing seventh out of 19 teams with a time of 4:29.25.
Prendergast was the top finisher of the Storm individuals. Prendergast touched the wall at 27.18 in the 50 freestyle, tying Ripon's Cierra Boutelle in 20th place.
The 200 freestyle relay generated the remaining total points for the Storm. The team of Prendergast, Williams-Yee, Cassie Bergman and Brenna Yeusty finished in 13th place with a time 1:49.90.
The Pioneer Classic continues on Saturday starting at 10 a.m.
