Yeutsy sets school record in loss to Coe

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Brenna Yeutsy set a new school record and the Storm women won two events in a loss to Coe on Friday night, falling 118-91.

A freshman, Yeutsy swam the 500 freestyle in 5:36.59, besting Hannah Yarbough's time of 5:39.32 set back in the 2011-12 season. Yeusty placed second in the race, adding a second-place effort in the 200 freestyle (2:02.58).

"This was our first road meet against a conference team," head coach Tom Caccia said. "I was very pleased with the times we posted tonight."

Another freshman, Cheyenne Wiederholt won the 100 backstroke in a time of 1:07.58, and the Storm's 200 freestyle relay team of Bergman, Buitendorp, Hoferitza-Palermo, and Yeutsy won in 1:50.58.

"We were expecting Coe to be very good and we didn't back down," Caccia added. "We're anxious to see them again."
