Women's swimming defeats Iowa Lakes, falls to Quincy in double dual

ESTHERVILLE, Iowa — The Simpson women's swimming team finished with three second place efforts in a double dual versus Iowa Lakes Community College and Quincy University on Saturday.

Simpson won 151-45 over Iowa Lakes, but fell 181-69 to Quincy.

Seniors Alex Vander Veen and Haley Blum each placed second, along with freshman Maren Hoferitza-Palermo. Vander Veen finished the 50 butterfly with a time of 30.19, Blum finished the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.02, and Hoferitza-Palermo took second in the 50 backstroke with a 29.91 finish. Freshmen Cassie Bergman and Brenna Yeutsy each added third place finishes for the Storm. Bergman swam the 100 freestyle in 1:02.56 and classmate Yeutsy swam the 1000 freestyle in 11:50.11

UP NEXT: Simpson travels to Cedar Rapids to take on conference opponent Coe on Friday, Nov. 4.
