Storm swimmers set two school records on second day of Liberal Arts Championships

ELSAH, Ill. - The Simpson swimming and diving teams set two school records to highlight the first full day of the Liberal Arts Championships at Principia College.

Tori Haag reset her own school record in the 200 IM and she helped the 400 medley relay team crush the previous mark. The women's team is in eighth place with 58 points while the men are seventh with 72.

Haag set the mark in the 200 IM earlier this season and lowered it on Thursday, touching the wall in 2:19.62 to place 10th. She went on to anchor the 400 medley relay, joining Megan Buitendorp,Haley Blum and Alex Vander Veen to break the school record by more than 3 seconds, touching the wall in 4:17.10. The quartet shaved more than 6 seconds off their prelims time.

The 200 freestyle relay team of Erica CarlsonEmma Gerdis, Blum and Haag placed eighth, touching the wall in 1:44.88. Their preliminary time of 1:44.19 is the second-fastest in school history.

On the men's side, the Storm posted three season-best efforts, led by the 400 medley relay team ofNicholas CollisonKyle McKimMichael Reuter and Dylan Gray. The group placed ninth in 3:47.47, the second-fastest time in school history.

Gray placed eighth in the 50 freestyle, touching the wall in a season-best time of 22.39 seconds. He also swam the lead leg on the 200 freestyle relay, joining Reuter, Zack Lindeberg and McKim to place ninth in a season-best time of 1:33.89.
