Storm swimming & diving drop duals to Austin College

SHERMAN, Texas – The Simpson swimming and diving teams opened their trip to Texas on Thursday with a dual meet against Austin College.

In the first action in more than a month, the women dropped a close 117-110 decision while the men fell 136-77. The teams won eight events combined, five coming from the women's team.

For the men's team, JJ Hansen won both the 1- and 3-meter diving competitions and Kyle McKimadded a win in the 100 breaststroke.

The women's squad fared well, winning five events. Tori Haag was a part of two first-place finishes, winning the 100 breaststroke and joining Megan Buitendorp, Haley Blum and Erica Carlson in the winning 200 medley relay team. Emma Gerdis (200 freestyle), Alex Vander Veen (100 butterfly) and Blum (100 breaststroke) added individual wins.

The Storm will take part in the Austin College Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 9.
