Swimming and diving teams drop close contest at Loras

DUBUQUE, Iowa- The Simpson swimming and diving teams took home a total of 12 wins in a pair of close losses to Loras.

The Duhawks won the women's competition 116-90 and the men's 110-97.

Starting off the night early in an intense battle, Nathan Schneider took first in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 12:17.79 and later added a first place finish in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:44.13.

Kyle McKim chimed in with a victory in the men's 200 IM with a time of 2:12.92 and first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:03.74. Cody Carlson also got a win in the 100 freestyle with a time of 51.66.

On the women's side, Christina Amburgy took first in the 100 freestyle with a time of 58.68 closely followed by Tori Haag who finished second with a time of 59.69.

Haley Blum won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:15.67. The quartet of Megan Buitendorp, Katherine Rubins, Erica Carlson, and Amburgy took a first place finish int eh 400 freestyle relay with a combined time of 4:12.36.
